Frequently Asked Questions

Q: WHAT KIND OF PREP WORK IS REQUIRED?

A: We recommend 2-4 inches of turf blend soil mix. Raked and rolled

For optimal results, be sure to take the following steps:

  • Check for low spots and drainage problems.

  • Remove all debris, wood, large rocks and remove any weeds.

  • Rake and roll the site.

Q: DO I HAVE TO WATER IT?
A: Yes for the first 14 days you will need to water your newly hydroseeded lawn 30-40 minutes per day. It is best to water your lawn three to four times a day in 10 minute increments, to avoid over watering.  After 14 days you can reduce your watering time to 10 minutes every 2 to 3 days.

Q: CAN I WALK ON IT?
A: Light foot traffic for watering during the first 2 weeks. Be careful to not disturb the mulch/seed mix.

Q: HOW LONG BEFORE I SEE GRASS?
A: Depending on soil temperature and moisture in 5 to 9 days you will see evidence of your new lawn growing above

ground. It’s been growing underneath since the application

Q: WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO HYDROSEED?
A: For new lawns the beginning of April until the middle of October will make for the best lawn, as the soil is warm enough for the seed to germinate.
For revegetation or commercial work hydroseeding can be done year round. Late fall to early spring seeding will be a dormant seeding that will germinate according to seed variety and soil temperature.

Q: CAN I USE MY RIDE ON LAWN MOWER TO MOW MY LAWN?
A: Not in the first 3 months until the ground is solid & firm

Q: IS HYDROSEEDING BETTER THAN TURF?
A: Absolutely! as the seed that germinates in your new lawn will grow stronger in its current location. Rather than transplanting pre grown turf that may not be right for that location.

Q: IS HYDROSEEDING CHEAPER THAN TURF?

A: Absolutely! The current price for turf installed is $1.50 a Sq. foot compared to .15 cents a Sq. foot for hydroseeding.

Q: IS IT SAFE FOR MY DOGS?

A: Hydroseeding is non toxic however we recommend that you keep your dogs off your new lawn until it is established.

Q: CAN YOU SPRAY OVER AN EXISTING LAWN?

A: Yes if the lawn has been power raked or is thin. Hydroseeding works best when it has direct soil contact.

Q: MY LAWN IS BROWN & NOT COMING IN VERY GOOD WHY?

A: Be sure to follow our watering instructions to avoid brown spots and delayed germination. If your lawn is brown it is most likely thirsty. We recommend checking your watering schedule and system to ensure an even distribution.
